MEET CIRCUS DEVILS
Left to right: Tim Tobias (music) / Robert Pollard (vocals, lyrics, album art) / Todd Tobias (music and record production)
CIRCUS DEVILS is a psychedelic rock trio founded in 2001 by Robert Pollard, best known as the founder, songwriter and vocalist for the indie rock pioneers Guided by Voices. Circus Devils incorporates a musical alchemy of hard rock and soft rock, tension and ambience, eerie moods, story-worlds, rock opera theatrics, humor and nightmares, beauty and ugliness, resulting in much consternation among music critics. But for those who take the dive, each album offers a strangely coherent cinematic music experience. Band member Todd Tobias says "Our music is for everyone."

In THE YEAR A.D. 2000,
A man-thing who has since become known as "hair face" appeared to each member of the then yet-to-be-formed band on separate occassions, and each time delivered an identical message: "Circus Devils is real!" Within a year of these encounters, the band was formed.
Hair face has been spotted from time to time since those early encounters. A police mug shot was taken, but he has remained elusive and his identity remains unknown.
