In 2007, Todd Tobias and Steve Five (The Library is on Fire) began making unscripted, off-hand music videos using masks and thrift shop costumes and props.   A weird German paper mask Todd found on eBay became Steve's inspiration to embody the character of "Sergeant Disco," the perpetually excitable and nonplussed man-child who appears in many Circus Devils videos, as well as the feature-length experimental video "I RAZOR."  Cory Race plays the character of "Professor Salmon," the Sgt's smiling, seemingly vacant, but magically gifted sidekick.

Steve also plays the character Rodney Dreemer; the sad, former TV actor who has trouble fitting in to a world that he no longer recognizes.  Rodney can be seen in the videos 'The Liquid Observer,' 'The Night of Anything' , 'Hue N' Dye' and 'TIME TRAPPER.'
